An in-depth knowledge of the New World wine is critical to the serious wine student.

This New World wine course covers countries “discovered” after 1492 because wine is a Eurocentric invention and was not consumed in any New World country until the Europeans arrived - besides the exception of the “Nouveau-New World.” 

You will taste 40+ New World wines as part of this course. 

Topics covered:

• Geography and climate
• Wine production techniques
• How to use vintage data, by region or country
• Wine character data, by appellation
• You will receive more than 450 pages of material, specifically designed for this course
• You wil taste about 50+ New World wines

New World countries covered:

• United States (all 50 states)
• Canada
• Mexico
• Australia
• New Zealand
• Chile
• Argentina
• Brazil
• Uruguay
• China, India and Japan (nouveau New World)
• South Africa

Recommendation

If you would like to take a detailed, technical course on New World wine you can take this course without taking anything else. However, we strongly recommend, but do not require, that you first take the Guild Level 1 Wine Seminar before attempting a Level 3 regional course. 

Schedule 

This course is available in two formats. There is no difference in course content, instruction or contact hours between the two formats:

• As an 10-week course, meeting once a week 6 PM - 10 PM 
   
• As a 5-Day intensive study course, meeting daily from 8 AM to 5 PM
